DERT

medium logoDERT (Dancing England Rapper Tournament) is the largest annual rapper dancing competition, attracting teams from all over the world to compete, share ideas and engage in moderately offensive banter.  Since its origins in the 1980s, DERT has encouraged and been the exhibition stage for the development of new figures, tactics and styles, all of which have made rapper dancing the fresh and living tradition that it is today.

Hosted by a different rapper dancing team every year, the competition is held in a number of pubs in the chosen town or city.  Each team dances once in each pub and is marked according to a strict criteria by the resident judges.  Bribery is not accepted, but it is mandatory.

DERT is open to any team dancing in the rapper tradition and trophies are awarded to teams which exceed in a number of categories at all levels.

In 2017, the competition is being hosted by Crook Morris in the town of Kendal. Below is a list of who hosted and won DERTs of the past. Enjoy!
